A volunteer grant writer for the Well Foundation Trust Zambia would play a vital role in securing funding to support various social initiatives, including skills training for women and youth, capacity building for women, drug addiction rehabilitation, psychosocial counseling, mentorship and coaching, youth advocacy, shelter provision, and tourism-related projects.

Role Description

Position: Volunteer Grant Writer
Location: Remote or on-site at Well Foundation Trust Zambia
Commitment: Part-time, flexible hours

Responsibilities:

  • Research potential funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other sources.
  • Draft compelling grant proposals, letters of intent, and supporting documents to secure funding.
  • Collaborate with program coordinators to gather information about project needs, objectives, and outcomes.
  • Ensure all applications meet funders’ guidelines, objectives, and deadlines.
  • Track submitted proposals and maintain an organized database of grant activities and deadlines.
  • Assist in preparing budgets and other financial documentation required for grant proposals.

Qualifications

  1. Proven Writing Skills: Excellent command of English, with strong written communication skills and the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  2. Research Abilities: Experience in conducting research to identify potential funders and relevant funding opportunities.
  3. Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills with attention to accuracy in documents and deadlines.
  4. Project Knowledge: Understanding or willingness to learn about the specific social issues Well Foundation Trust Zambia addresses, such as drug rehabilitation, youth advocacy, and women’s empowerment.
  5. Grant Writing Experience: Prior experience in grant writing is preferred, particularly in the nonprofit or social services sector.
  6. Budgeting and Financial Acumen: Basic understanding of budget preparation and financial planning.
  7. Commitment to Social Impact: A genuine interest in community development and commitment to the Trust’s mission to support vulnerable populations in Zambia.
